Welcome to our Business Department! We have many exciting classes and opportunities and experienced faculty and staff. We are always ready to share information about our many opportunities for getting involved in clubs and activities while building a strong academic foundation. Students benefit from quality instruction, practical “hands-on” experiences and a student-centered faculty and staff. Upon completion of an Associate in Science degree of Associate of Applied Science degree, you will be prepared for a seamless transition to a four-year university or to apply your skills in the workforce.

Business Program
Mission Statement:
The mission of the Business department at Redlands Community College is to impact

Scotti Charmasson is originally from Northwest Missouri where she grew up on a cattle ranch. She attended Northwest Missouri State University where she competed on the livestock judging team before transferring to Oklahoma State University to earn a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science. After graduating from OSU, she went on to earn a Master of Natural and Applied Science from Missouri State University in Springfield. Her graduate research focused on the reproductive cycles of the highly endangered Grand Cayman Blue Iguanas. While in graduate school, she also had the privilege of traveling around the country to help artificially inseminate and ultrasound several different exotic species with the main focus being on elephants. Scotti joined Redlands in 2008 and is currently the Department Head of Agriculture & Business and teaches several classes in the Ag Department. Scotti feels it is a huge blessing to be able to work at an institution where she can share her passion for animal-related science with her students.

Rachel Bailey, a graduate of Mid-America Christian University, has a Master’s in Business Administration with a certificate in Accounting. She will receive her Doctorate in Business Management in December 2024. Working in higher education since 2007 has fed her passion for teaching students. She believes seeing the imaginary light bulb go off above a student’s head when the student “gets it” is the best part. Rachel has two children and several fur babies.
Dr. Rachel Hurt, Professor of Computer Science

Dr. Hurt earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Southwestern Oklahoma
State University in 2014 and went on to complete a Master’s in Business Administration
from the same university in 2016. During her time as a student, Dr. Hurt was actively
involved in extracurricular activities, including participating in NASA competitions
and even visiting the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California. She began teaching
computer science courses in 2015 and has since been passionate about witnessing the
growth in students as they challenge themselves to excel. In May 2024, Dr. Hurt achieved
a Doctorate in Computer Science with a focus on Big Data, marking a significant milestone
in her academic and professional journey.
Outside of academia, Dr. Hurt takes pride in her two dachshund dogs, often sharing pictures and stories about them with enthusiasm. Additionally, she has a strong interest in hydroponics, having successfully grown a variety of plants, such as squash, lettuce, tomatoes, and strawberries. This blend of professional dedication and personal interests reflects Dr. Hurt's well-rounded approach to life and learning.
