Job Description
Redlands Community College is seeking candidates to apply for the Academic Advisor
and Outreach Coordinator for Veterans Upward Bound (VUB). This is a full-time, professional
staff position working 40 hours per week. The salary range for this position is $38,000
to $40,000 per year with excellent benefits. This position will report to the Director
for Veterans Upward Bound. The Academic Advisor will provide VUB participants with
education and career counseling including basic skills enhancement and college entrance
requirements as necessary to facilitate VUB participant success. The Outreach Coordinator
will coordinate and participate in in-person outreach events and develop working relationships
with participating veteran organizations and other related stakeholders to promote
the VUB program. This position requires well-developed oral and written communication
skills with ability to communicate effectively in front of large groups and with diverse
populations. Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 Outlook, Word, TEAMS, Excel, PowerPoint,
and internet is required. The candidate must be able to work independently with limited
supervision, be self-motivated, make decisions and solve problems with minimal guidance,
and possess effective time management, multi-tasking, and organizational skills. The
ideal candidate will be a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented
environment.
Major Responsibilities include:
Have thorough knowledge of federal, state, VUB grant and Redlands Community College
regulations/policies.
Develop educational and career plans for each VUB participant.
Maintain confidentiality and comply with all HIPAA and FERPA privacy rules.
Counsel and advise qualified veterans about VUB program services.
Coordinate, evaluate, and monitor participant status with VUB in-person tutors or
online tutor applications.
Maintain relationships with postsecondary and VoTech institutions where VUB participants
may be referred.
Document, maintain, and file all relevant participant communications and participant
documents.
Monitor assigned participants’ progress while veteran is an initial or continuing
program participant.
Assist with required VUB reports.
Facilitate planning and evaluating curriculum and activities at Redlands Community
College VUB.
Assist the Program Director with participant identification and selection.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Counseling, Marketing, Public Relations or related
field.
United States Military Veteran with a characterization of discharge/separation of
HONORABLE.
Demonstrated, well-developed oral and written communication skills with ability to
communicate effectively to groups and with diverse populations.
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 Outlook, Word, TEAMS, PowerPoint,
and internet.
Ability to work independently with limited supervision, be self-motivated, make decisions
and solve problems with minimal guidance.
Effective time management, multi-tasking, and organizational skills.
Must have a valid Oklahoma driver's license in good standing.
Willingness to submit to a background check.

Clery Statement
Redlands Community College is committed to providing a safe place to live, work, study
and visit. Part of this effort includes sharing information regarding the safety and
security of our campuses.
Redlands provides email notifications to all students, faculty and staff when a Clery
Crime occurs in or near Redlands Community College campus or any of its sites. These
notifications are primarily sent if the incident poses an ongoing safety threat as
determined by the President of the College or his designee. The act requires colleges
