Overview

While most of our offerings at Redlands Community college are focused on students living in our local communities in Oklahoma, there are some students who either live outside of Oklahoma and take online classes, or end up seeking employment out of state after graduation. Below you will find informtion about which states allow you to take our classes online, or use your industry certification obtained here in their state.

NC-SARA

SARA is an agreement among member states, districts, and territories that establishes comparable national standards for interstate offerings of postsecondary distance education courses and programs.  It is intended to make it easier for students to take online courses offered by post-secondary institutions based in another state.  SARA is overseen by a National Council and administered by four regional education compacts.

States belong to SARA, not institutions or students.  The college “operates underneath” or “participates in” SARA.  Each individual institution within a state will determine if they want to participate in SARA or not.  Colleges or universities in a SARA state only need their home state authorization to offer distance education to any other SARA member state.

There are several states that do not belong to SARA.  If you reside in one of these states, then you will not be able to enroll for online classes through Rose State College.  These states are:

  • California
  • Northern Mariana Islands

For more information about SARA please visit their FAQs page. For a list of member states and member institutions, please visit the NC-SARA member directory. If your state is not listed as a SARA member, please contact our office.

State authorization of online degrees is a dynamic environment. Before making final educational decisions check the SARA or your state of residence to ensure an up-to-date status on a state’s authorization. Students are responsible for understanding each state’s authorization, which includes current circumstances and special requirements in a student’s state of residence.

Complaints

We make every effort to resolve student complaints fairly and equitably. Students located in SARA states must follow our complaint process prior to submitting a complaint to Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education (OSRHE) SARA Portal Entity If a complaint deals with students located in SARA states and the College is not able to resolve the complaint, then we agree to work with its Home State’s SARA Portal Entity to resolve any complaints arising from students in SARA states, and to abide by the decision of that entity regarding resolution of such complaints. (Please note that grade appeals and student conduct appeals are not permitted under SARA, these would be institutional complaints that have formal process.  Please refer to the College Catalog and the Student Handbook for both appeal processes.)

Professional Licensure Disclosures

Degree programs at Redlands that are intended to result in professional licensure and certification are designed to meet the educational requirements for the state of Oklahoma.

Per the U.S. Department of Education regulation 34 CFR 668.43 (a) (5) (v) we are obligated to disclose whether or not our programs will meet the educational requirements for professional licensure or certification in any of the US states or territories. The information below reflects, to the best of our knowledge, accurate information about each of our licensing programs.

We encourage students who may live out-of-state or intend to test or apply for licensure or certification outside of Oklahoma to: (1) share this with college representatives and program officials, and (2) review the state educational requirements on the relevant licensing body’s website. Redlands will work collaboratively to assist students to stay informed regarding educational requirements for licensing eligibility wherever they may live.

Nursing Licensure and TItle IV Compliance

The curriculum at Redlands Community College for an Associate in Applied Science with a nursing major degree leads to the ability to apply for licensure in Oklahoma. The College has researched Title IV compliance for the nursing curriculum.  Please see the table below to determine which U.S. states allow a Redlands nursing graduate to apply for licensure with no extra classes needed. Redlands will update the table as information becomes available.
