Redlands Community College is proud to announce that two of its cross country runners have qualified to compete in the NJCAA DII Cross Country National Championships.

Freshmen Joseph Thompson, of Anadarko, and Andres Iniguez, of Oklahoma City, secured their spots at the national meet with impressive performances at the regional qualifier in October. Both athletes met the national qualifying standard which is 33 minutes, with Thompson running the 8K course in 31:23, while Iniguez finished in 32:39.

"I'm incredibly proud of the work Joseph and Andres have put in this season," said Paul Madzivire, Redlands’ head coach. "They've shown tremendous dedication and improvement, and I'm confident they'll represent Redlands exceptionally well at the national meet."

This will mark only the third time in Redlands' history that the college has sent athletes to the NJCAA DII Cross Country National Championships, the last occurrence being in 2019. The national meet is scheduled for Saturday, November 9 at Pole Green Park in Richmond, Va, and will feature the top individual and team performers from community colleges across the country.

"Making it to nationals is a significant achievement for our program," Madzivire added. "Joseph and Andres have set new personal bests this season, and I expect them to run even faster this weekend. This is a huge milestone, not just for them, but for the entire Redlands cross country team."
