Redlands Community College is more than an institution of higher education. We are a vital economic driver for the State of Oklahoma. A recent analysis by the University of Cincinnati Economics Center (UCEC) confirms what many in our community already know: Redlands delivers significant value far beyond the classroom.
In fiscal year 2024 alone, the operations of Redlands Community College, combined with the spending of our students, employees, and alumni, generated $69.15 million in total economic output and supported 693 jobs across Oklahoma. This includes $31.43 million in wages that directly benefit Oklahoma households.
These numbers are not just statistics. They represent families supported, small businesses patronized, and local economies strengthened by our presence. Every dollar spent on Redlands creates a ripple effect that stimulates growth in various sectors across Oklahoma and beyond.
Even more telling is the return on investment for the taxpayers of Oklahoma. Redlands received $7.2 million in state appropriations last year. In turn, we generated $9.60 in economic output for every $1 received from the state. That is a nearly tenfold return on public investment, proof that funding higher education yields measurable dividends for our economy.
Furthermore, Redlands contributed $2.27 million in fiscal benefits to state and local governments through income and sales tax revenue. This includes over $1.13 million in income tax and a nearly equal amount in sales tax, helping fund essential public services in our communities.
Redlands Community College stands committed to fostering educational access, workforce development and economic vitality. As we continue to prepare the next generation of Oklahoma’s workforce, we also serve as an engine of economic stability and growth. Our success is Oklahoma’s success. Come be a part of the great things happening at Redlands Community College!
