Enrollment Increase Continues

Following a year of consistent growth, Redlands Community College is experiencing continued success with a 15.5% increase in Summer enrollment. This increase for a second consecutive year in Summer enrollment highlights the success of recent program enhancements and the institution's dedication to meeting the evolving needs of learners.

"We are thrilled to see such continued growth in our enrollment," said Redlands President Jena Marr. "This achievement is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our exceptional faculty and staff, whose commitment to providing a top-notch educational experience has been instrumental in attracting and retaining students. Their unwavering support and innovative approaches have truly made a difference, and I couldn't be prouder of our entire team."

In recent years, Redlands has strategically expanded its curriculum to include cutting-edge courses in drone technology and film, reflecting its commitment to providing students with relevant and innovative educational opportunities. Additionally, the business program has been significantly enhanced, and new computer science courses are being introduced this Fall to meet the growing demand for tech-savvy professionals. These enhancements are designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in today's dynamic job market.

To further support student success, Redlands has established valuable partnerships with career technology centers, allowing students to combine block credit from career technology programs with general education courses at Redlands to earn an associate degree. These collaborations provide a seamless pathway for students to advance their education and career prospects. Moreover, Redlands has developed robust transfer agreements with several universities in areas such as education, agriculture, business, criminal justice, and health, ensuring that students have the opportunity to continue their academic journeys and achieve their long-term goals.

"We are excited about the expansion of our academic programs, including the addition of courses in drone technology, film, and computer science, as well as the enhancement of our business program," said Annie Pearson, vice president for Academic Affairs. "These new offerings, coupled with our partnerships with career technology centers and transfer agreements with universities, underscore our commitment to providing students with diverse and comprehensive educational pathways. Our goal is to equip our students with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in their chosen fields, and we are confident that these initiatives will significantly contribute to their academic and professional growth."

This Summer, 28% of the students are considered non-traditional students, or individuals over the age of 22. In effort to support this student population, Redlands is expanding its support to adult students by offering scholarships to those who have never taken college classes or those who have some college credit but have not completed a degree. These scholarships aim to encourage adult learners to earn a degree that will expand career opportunities.

By providing financial assistance to adult students, the college is furthering its mission to make education accessible to all members of the community, regardless of their educational background. For more information about adult learner opportunities, visit www.redlandscc.edu/reach-higher.

Financial aid is also still available to new and returning students. All students can apply for a tuition waiver, which range from $250 to $1,000. Students can apply year-round for tuition waivers, and selection is based on availability of funds. The application is online at www.redlandscc.edu/paying-redlands/scholarships.

Summer enrollment numbers also indicate that high school students are getting a jumpstart on their college education by taking courses during their break, with an increase of 24.8% in concurrent enrollment. A leading provider of courses to high school students for more than 30 years, Redlands offers college classes tuition free to high school juniors and seniors, so the only expense is fees or textbooks. And as an additional cost-saving measure, many of the general education courses at Redlands use free e-textbooks. Students in numerous school districts are being instructed either online or on the Redlands campus, ensuring flexibility and convenience in learning environments.
