Beef Show Team Coach - Full-time position(s)

Redlands Community College is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Beef Show Team Coach position.  This is a full-time, 10-month, professional staff position with excellent benefits.  This position reports to the Department Head of Agriculture.  Responsibilities include:  Serving as the head coach of the RCC Beef Show Team, maintaining the show cattle herd and the Royse Ranch beef barn, and aiding in the instruction of the Livestock Fitting and Grooming class.  The coach will be responsible for recruiting students for the beef team, selecting livestock shows to exhibit at, booking travel arrangements, traveling with the team members, preparing the show cattle for exhibition, maintaining good records of receipts and expenditures, and serving as a mentor to the team.  They will be expected to maintain public relations and coordinate fundraising activities.  Maintenance of the cattle herd includes, but is not limited to, practicing good animal husbandry, nutrition, herd health, and breeding.  Maintenance of the beef barn includes, but is not limited to, cleanliness, organization, and upkeep.  This position will be expected to maintain a safe environment for our students and visitors.  Qualifications include:  Bachelor’s degree preferred with a major in Agriculture; previous experience in the show cattle industry; possess a valid driver’s license; must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and should not be allergic to animals or animal dander; ability to work with students and producers from diverse backgrounds and life situations; and possess well- developed written and oral communication skills.  To apply:  Interested applicants are required to complete an online employment application and submit a cover letter that specifically addresses your qualifications for the position, a comprehensive resume or CV, copies of college transcripts and three references with names, addresses and phone numbers.  Click here to access the application and upload documentation.  Position is open until filled. 

 

Redlands Community College is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Director of Artificial Insemination and Manager of the Darlington Applied Research Center position.  This is a full-time, 12-month, professional staff position.  The salary range is $55,000.00 to $65,000.00 per year with excellent benefits.  The Director is responsible for overall day-to-day operations and maintenance of the Darlington Applied Research Center and Darlington Campus.  This position reports to the Executive Vice President. Duties and Responsibilities include:  Day-to-day operations of the Darlington Applied Research Center including maintaining the aesthetic appeal of our Darlington Campus location through landscaping and beautification efforts. The maintenance includes, but is not limited to, weed control, fertilizing, mowing, cleanup of debris, trimming hedges/shrubs, trimming around sidewalks and buildings, etc. The Director must be able to operate equipment such as tractors, push and riding mowers, chemical sprayers, string trimmers, chainsaws, hand tools, etc. as the position is responsible for removal of unwanted or unhealthy plants, shrubs, and trees. The Director will also maintain animal shelters, fences, and gates. This position maintains the Redlands Community College goat herd by practicing good husbandry, herd health, nutrition, and breeding. The Director will supervise part-time employees, including student workers.  In addition, the Director will manage the Artificial Insemination and Embryo Transfer (AI/ET) laboratory, ensure lab safety requirements are maintained in and around the AI/ET lab, market to and provide AI/ET services to producers while maintaining strict written protocols, and appropriate contracts and appropriate pricing for services. Some additional responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, helping recruit students for the Redlands Community College agriculture program, maintain good public relations with area 4-H and FFA programs and maintain a safe environment for students, visitors, and animals. Qualifications include: Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited university with a major in Agriculture; a minimum of 2 years of experience in animal husbandry including artificial insemination and/or embryo transfer; experience in laboratory safety and use of live animals in research activities and in instruction; must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and should not be allergic to animals or animal dander; ability to work with students and producers from diverse backgrounds and life situations, providing the highest level of service to all; and possess well developed written and oral communication skills. Learning Community Coordinator - Part-time position(s)

Redlands Community College is seeking qualified candidates for a half-time/12-month Learning Community Coordinator as part of a 5-year grant focused on STEM/Agricultural Sustainability and Technology (Native American Service Non-Tribal Institutions (NASNTI) Part A awarded October 2020). This federally funded position provides experience working with underserved populations in emerging areas of STEM and Agriculture, and provides support to learners who may be academically challenged in math and science. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Contribute to the academic success of students and the overall grant program;   Oversee a cadre of peer tutors in STEM related content areas; Assist in daily/routine operations related to grant initiatives and projects, including greenhouse support and vermiculture (worm-farming) support; Engage with the team in managing projects, deadlines, and deliverables; Explore instructional support strategies to increase learning. Qualifications include: Graduate degree in Education, Agriculture, Technology, Science, or a related field; Team player who is also able to work independently; Ability to organize and supervise peer tutors and track utilization of tutoring services; Experience developing and/or delivering instructional materials at the secondary or college level; Familiarity with the role of community colleges and the unique challenges of underserved populations; Federal grant or other grant experience preferred.
