José Molina Negron, Head Men's Basketball Coach

José Alberto Molina Negron was born and raised in the beautiful island of Puerto Rico. Coach Molina started his career in 2006 as Coach in the AAU circuit down in the island working with boys and girls teams. From 2008 to 2011, Molina was assistant coach and interim head coach for the Morovis Montañeras, a Puerto Rico women’s professional team which participated in the Final Four in every season, achieving three BSNF Final appearances and a 2009 championship. Coach Molina’s record as interim head coach that year was 10-1, earning him the honor of being named head coach in the All-Star game. From 2011 to 2015, he was head women's basketball coach at the University of Puerto Rico (Arecibo Campus), improving the ranking of the program from 18th to 9th in the Puerto Rico College League. In August 2015, Coach Molina became the assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for women's basketball at Redlands, achieving two Region II Tournament semifinals and a 40-20 record during his tenure under Head Coach Jay Niehues. In September 2017, he was named interim head coach for the men’s basketball program at Redlands. In his first season, the team finished with a 14-17 record and made it to the Region II tournament by winning a playoff game at home. During the season, two players earned Player of the Week honors, and one player was selected First Team All Region II. Coach Molina is a 2012 graduate of the University of Puerto Rico (Bayamon Campus) with a bachelor’s degree in computer sciences and received a master’s degree in coaching and athletic administration from Concordia University at Irvine, Calif. in 2014.
Don Tuley, Assistant Coach
Don Tuley returns to Redlands as the Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach, bringing a wealth of experience and a history of success. In his previous tenure at Redlands as Assistant Coach under Steve Eck, the team captured a national championship title and achieved a national runner-up finish. Coach Tuley has also served as an Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at Oklahoma City University, where he contributed to an NAIA National Tournament appearance. Most recently, he was the Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Seminole State College, leading the team to a Region 2 Tournament Championship and an NJCAA National Tournament qualification.
A Hall of Fame inductee as both a coach and a player, Coach Tuley played at Murray State College and East Central University. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from East Central University and a Master’s Degree from the University of Central Oklahoma.
Carlos Coppage, Assistant Coach
Carlos Coppage II begins his second year as an assistant basketball coach at Redlands
Community College. A graduate of RCC, Carlos earned an Associate of Arts degree while
averaging 14 points and 7 assists per game as a player under current head coach José
Molina, also serving as team captain.
In high school, Carlos achieved notable success, scoring over 1,200 points and recording
1,000 assists. He graduated from Edmond North High School, where he played a key role
in leading the Huskies to their first-ever 6A basketball state championship in 2017.
Carlos later earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from Langston University,
finishing his playing career as a team captain and receiving 2021 All-Conference Honorable
Mention. He was also part of the 2023 conference championship team.
Andre Favors, Assistant Coach
Coach Andre Favors, from Griffin, GA, is a dedicated basketball coach with a rich
history in the sport. He won the 1988 Georgia Boys 6AAAA State Championship at Griffin
High School and was a McDonald's All-American candidate. He later played at Garden
City Community College, where he earned an Associate Degree and helped his team achieve
a #1 national ranking.
With coaching experience at all levels—including youth, AAU, high school, and college—Coach
Favors spent three years at Brown Mackie College, winning the 2005 NJCAA Men’s Basketball
Championship. He also led the Salina Saints in the ABA, where his team went undefeated
in the regular season for two years. A firm believer that basketball is a gift from
God, he is married to Bridget and has four children and four grandchildren. An ordained
minister, he prioritizes faith, family, education, and basketball.
