COVID-19 Updates and Resources

Federal CARES Act

Redlands Community College received $378,197 in funds for institutional expenses related to the COVID pandemic through the HEERF federal CARES Act. This funding was used as follows: 

  • Student Housing Refunds: $131,987.99
  • Campus Safety and Operations: $13,164.03 (virtual graduation expenses, Zoom software licenses, webcams, etc.)
  • Payroll expenses for professional and support staff during the pandemic lockdown: $233,044.98 (lost productivity in March and April when campus was closed) 

In the Spring of 2020, Redlands Community College signed and returned to the Department the Certification and Agreement and the assurance that the College has used, or intends to use, no less than 50 percent of the funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students. Redlands Community College received $304,230 and distributed $304,203.06. The estimated total number of students at the institution eligible to participate in programs under Section 484 in Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 and thus eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act is 622. The total number of students who have received an Emergency Financial Aid Grant to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act is 622.

To qualify for funding through the Federal CARES Act, students must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be enrolled in at least 1 credit hour as of April 14, 2020
  • High school concurrent students are Not Eligible
  • Students who were taking 100% online courses prior to the COVID-19 transition are not eligible.
  • Students who are not eligible to fill out a FASFA will not receive funding. This includes DACA and International Students 
  • Full-time Redlands employees are Not Eligible
  • If you qualify, you will receive $43.47 per credit hour that you are enrolled in as of April 14, 2020.  (dropped and withdrawn classes before this date do not count)  

Students were notified by email on April 22, 2020. 

Under the HEERF II (CRRSAA) allocation, on February 19, 2021 Redlands Community College was awarded $1,427,978 to be used for institutional and direct aid to students.

Under HEERF III (ACE) allocation, on May 14, 2021 Redlands Community College was awarded $2,527,397. Of this amount, $1,333,540 must be used for Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.

For the quarter of January 2021 to March 2021 the funds have been used as follows: 

  • Lost revenue in student housing and events $109,369
  • Campus safety and operations $32,978

For the quarter of April 2021 to June 2021 the funds have been used as follows:

Provided Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students in the amount of $304,201.50 for the Spring 2021 semester. To qualify for funding students must meet the following criteria: 

  • Must be enrolled in at least 1 credit hour as of  March 22, 2021
  • High school concurrent students are Not Eligible
  • Students who are not eligible to fill out a FASFA will not receive funding. This includes DACA and International Students 
  • Full-time Redlands employees are Not Eligible
  • If you qualify, you will receive $72.95 per credit hour that you are enrolled in as of March 22, 2021.  (dropped and withdrawn classes before this date do not count)  
  • A total of 387 students received funds. 
  • Students were notified by email and text message on March 23, 2021 with detailed on instructions on how to receive the funds. 

Provided additional emergency financial aid grants in the amount of $729.50

Paid off past due student tuition and fee balances for the Spring, Summer, Fall 2020 semesters in the amount of $252,034.20

Campus safety and operations expenses in the amount of $55,615.97

Replaced lost revenue from academic sources in the amount of $196,539.11

In-Direct cost allocation draw down in the amount of $101,874.64

Provided Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students in the amount of $121,000 for the Summer 2021 semester. To qualify for funding students must meet the following criteria: 

  • Must be enrolled in at least 1 credit hour as of  June 14, 2021
  • Students who are not eligible to fill out a FASFA will not receive funding. This includes DACA and International Students 
  • Full-time Redlands employees are Not Eligible
  • If you qualify, you will receive funding as follows: Concurrent students received $250 each, Part time students received $500 each, and full time students received $750 each.  
  • A total of 212 students received funds. 
  • Students were notified by email and text message on March 23, 2021 with detailed on instructions on how to receive the funds. 

Under HEERF III (ACE) allocation, on May 14, 2021, Redlands Community College was awarded $2,527,397. Of this amount, $1,333,540 must be used for Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.

For the quarter of July 2021-September 2021 the institutional portion of the funds have been used as follows:  

  • Paid off past due student tuition and fee balances for the Spring 2021 semester $128,816
  • Campus safety and operations expenses in the amount of $602,973
  • Purchase equipment to up-grade Wi-Fi access in the amount of $49,220
  • In-Direct cost allocation in the amount of $95,509 

For the quarter of October 2021-December 2021 the institutional portion of the funds have been used as follows:

  • Paid off past due student tuition and fee balances for the Summer 2021 semester $37,463
  • Campus safety and operations expenses in the amount of $230,311
  • Purchase software and equipment to up-grade Wi-Fi access at student apartments $31,577
  • Employee and Student vaccine incentive $85,892

During this quarter Redlands Community College also dispersed $648,474.72 to students as emergency financial aid grants. To qualify for the Fall 2021 grants students must meet the following criteria: 

  • Must be enrolled in Fall 2021 in at least 1 credit hour as of 10-8-2021
  • Students who are not eligible to fill out a FASFA will not receive funding. This includes DACA and International Students 
  • Full-time Redlands employees are Not Eligible
  • A total of 431 students received funds. 
  • Students were notified by email and text message on September 27, 2021 with detailed instructions on how to receive the funds. 

For the quarter of January 2022-March 2022 the institutional portion of the funds have been used as follows: 

  • Paid off past due student tuition and fee balances for the Fall 2021 semester $179,109.47.
  • Campus safety and operations expenses in the amount of $211,717.83
  • In-Direct cost allocation in the amount of $20,468
  • Reimbursement of lost housing revenue $59,011.84

During this quarter Redlands Community College also dispersed $564,105.92 to students as emergency financial aid grants. To qualify for the Spring 2022 grants students must meet the following criteria: 

  • Must be enrolled in the Spring 2022 semester in at least 1 credit hour as of February 21, 2022.
  • Students who are not eligible to fill out a FASFA will not receive funding. This includes DACA and International Students 
  • Full-time Redlands employees are Not Eligible
  • A total of 390 students received funds. 
  • Students were notified by email and text message on March 7, 2022 with detailed instructions on how to receive the funds.
